Pratesi

Last night I was looking through the latest Architectural Digest magazine and I saw this pillow from Pratesi...LOVE!!!  I knew right away I wanted to make it myself out of some vintage Sis Boom.  I've been making pillows for the girl's new room (coming soon!) and this is a style I had not tried before. Basically, instead of a ruffle, it is like attaching a flounce to a skirt,  and incorporating piping to all of the seams.

Here is a pic of the Pratesi pillow...

Pratesi is an Italian luxury linen company.  I loved the black and white with the piping detail.  Played around a little this morning (okay, I woke up during the night with this great idea and THEN played around with it in the morning!).  Here is my version...

Personally, I like the pink piping better...and it didn't cost $450!!!

Giving

I am often asked to donate Tabbo items to charity events.  In fact, I was getting asked so often that I had to start limiting how many events I could participate in.  The one event that I ALWAYS work with is the Mayfield Classic Golf Outing.  This event benefits Impact Autism, which is an organization started by friends of ours here in Cincinnati who are raising triplets with Autism.  That's right, triplets.  All three diagnosed with this horrible disease.  One of my closest friends is also raising a teenaged boy with Autism, so I have always felt a closeness to this cause.  It is such a tragic illness effecting far too many children today.

This year I donated a giant dog bed and matching dog collar.  My first attempt at a dog collar.  I think I need to do a couple more to get them right but it turned out really cute.  I hope they get alot of bids on it!

Not Enough Time!

Summer, a boy with a broken leg, a new puppy and the start of school has certainly kept me busy!  But I've managed to get quite a few things made up in the last few months.  I just can't keep up the blog like I want to.  So, I'll just try to post pics every so often for those of you who actually make it over here!  I try to post on the Tabbo Facebook page too.  Check it out!

Teacher's Pet

My son has the most amazing teacher this year for second grade!  Her name is Mrs. Kapp and she taught one of my daughters as well.  This week she is in Washington D.C. with my oldest daughter as a chaperone for the eighth grade field trip.  I thought I'd share a little project that I made for her this Winter.  She likes to read to the children from her director's chair.  I thought it needed a little pizazz so I spruced it up for her!

Mrs. Kapp is one of the happiest people I know!  She collects smiley faces, so I added this one to the back of the chair to make her smile!
I think it turned out cute, and she was thrilled!  I love knowing that Bo is with this special woman every day at school.  And I love that she is with my daughter in DC right now!  Our family has been extremely blessed to know Mrs. Kapp!  Have you thanked your favorite teacher lately?

A few recent projects...

I have a little issue with losing things while I'm working.  So I made this pin cushion to keep next to my machine and added the elastic strap to hold those little tools that always seem to disappear!   I made the  cushion itself pretty large because I tend to lose those too!

I put this pillow together for Austin's friend, Abby.  Just a fun, easy project for a super sweet kid!
Love these "TABBOws"...get it?
I've sold quite a few Ipad sleeves lately!

Ipad sleeves made from Sis Boom Crazy Love are my favorites!

And the best news is, I've hired Emmi Mac from http://chignonandfeuilleton.com/ to be my assistant!  Check out her blog!  It's new and it's going to be really fun!  You'll be hearing alot more about Emmi and Tabbo this Spring!  We're so excited to get things going!

2013

Happy New Year!!!  Once again, I was a little ambitious about what I could accomplish this Christmas!  I was able to make a few skirts...

But most of them seemed to have just been worn by my own family!
Which is okay, I guess!  Next year I'll try to have a Winter sale a little more organized (like I say every year!).  I did manage to get a couple of other projects done in the last few days.  I made these zipper bags for my husband's office staff...
And a little pillow for a friend of Austin's...
And I have a pretty good start on some Spring skirts.  I WILL be having a sale this Spring!!  That is my New Year's resolution...sell, sell, sell!!!

Happy New Year!  I hope you had a wonderful Holiday season and I wish you all the best in 2013!
